View Full Version : Explosm, Comprimised?

Before the reset i got a couple messages while visiting explosm. I can't remember if it was while i was being redirected to the forums, or when i went to the comic directly. At any rate, instead of being redirected to explosm, i was instead presented a web page - not a popup- that told me that i had some sort of spyware or something that could see the Porn sites that i went to. I immediately knew this was false, as it asked me to install some anti-software. Some time later, i got another message like this, but not about porn or anything. I had never got these redirection from any other site except for explosm. Anyway, i was just about to go into a sub-forum and Avast said it just caught a Trojan. I wasn't to scared, but it just made me think that explosm was compromised in some way. The Trojan could just be something of my own, but the webmessages could be a problem for others.

Have you been getting any alerts like this? If not, any idea why i did?

I've been getting one about a drive cleaner, and it completely redirects me to the website... but then if I press back I'm back to Explosm and everything is fine.

I was using my parents computer to see explosm about a week ago. I accidentally forgot to close the popup and my mom thought she really had a virus. She clicked the box thinking it would fix it, but luckily I caught her before she got too far into the scam.

I, too got a message while browsing the explosm forums. It told my my computer might be infected, and offered a free scan. Naturally, I wasn't going to pass up a FREE scan to see if there were problems. So I did what any reasonably intelligent person would so, and hit OK.
Then an animated GIF appeared, and was apparently scanning a so-called "C" drive. I was not aware of any C drive. In any case, this animated image told me that my C drive, which I previously did not know existed, had over 900 porno files!
My first thought was that my brother had somehow created this "C drive" to privately stash his porn collection. So my frantic search for this rumored C drive began. I first checked out /, then /mnt/, from there, it was madness. Lastly, I tried entering C:\ in the search bar. The results puzzled me. Nothing was found. How could this perfectly legitimate, GIF image be able to scan a C drive, that my computer cannot found. Has my brother finally outsmarted me? I may never know.
This is where I gave up (http://jokerdesign.net/hos/zaren/stuff/dc2.png)

Thanks to you, explosm, a great number of questions have been asked, and none of them seem like they will be answered any time soon. And questions with no answers bother me.

Yes it's very annoying I don't think any company should be allowed a pop up that not only closes your current screen but even when you click no, opens up a browser window with the product in.

I was told by the same pop-up that the porn on my computer could compromise my job, marriage, and some other shit.

Even if I don't click okay, I'm forced to click the exit or cancel button. Either way it redirects me.

I sure hope no one on this computer finds my porn. Questions would be asked. And I sure don't want to lose my marriage!
