Okay, first the obligatory wiki link:

And the fucking awesome trailer:
http://news.filefront.com/new-assassins-creed-trailer-from-ubiday-2007/
In a nutshell, this is my dream come true.
You're a medieval hitman. You go around a completely interactive city, beautifully modeled in 3d, and you kill your targets as fast as you can, then you vanish. It has elements of the newer Prince of Persia games, MGS, Thief and Oblivion.
And get this: it's based on actual history. The weaponry and the city(Jerusalem) are accurate, the targets are actual people that died(although not all were assassinated).

This game looks fucking sweet, I'm looking forward to this because I just wanna run around the city and stab peeps.
Maybe we get to assassinate a lawyer who thinks video games kill people. Edit: /sarcasm ffs

This will literally be the best game ever. I bought my Xbox 360 specifically to play this and Gears of War originally. I just reserved it a couple days ago, and I'm eagerly counting down the days until it comes out. What intrigues me the most about it, and what will probably either make or break it as the best game of 2007, is the new control scheme. Forget everything you knew about these lame little attack buttons or jump buttons. In Assassin's Creed, the buttons correspond to parts of the character's body. The game uses its own discretion to decide what action to take when you press one of those buttons in the presence of an interactive item. Run towards a low wall and press the leg button, and you'll hurdle it. Press the arms button, you'll vault it. Things like that will, I believe, make this a dynamic and interesting game worthy of way more hype than it's gotten.
One of the major reasons I'm getting a 360.
The live E3 gave me a few speculations, though the game wasn't complete, I'm sure this will be awesome.

The game is actually complete and they are just working out all the bugs.
So it's safe to say that it will make it's November release. I'm definitely pre-ordering it. I'll get it for the PS3 instead of 360.

Videogames weren't invented then, you dumbass.
+It looks like a Prince of Persia spin-off, which is cool because that series was really starting to suck.

I've been following it for awhile, Gametrailers.com is where it's at...I've watched all the HDvids so many times and the best is watching the chase video with him jumping from buildings and running across the poles...the fighting looks stale though (based on an early video) so I hope they tweaked it out by now. Can't wait :D

Aye, I'm waiting for PC too and I'm hoping the same exact thing....I doubt alot of next-gen games will slack on porting, and in my opinion a pretty big title would make sure it's quality. Most crappy ports aren't really that big a deal to begin with (look at Scarface for example)

I've been looking forward to this game for some time, it looks awesome ^.^
But I'm waiting for the PC version as well, the only thing that annoys me about it is that it's so close to the relase of Crysis (which I will be spending all my sparetime on, when it's released)
This is the only (insert genre of game here) I will ever buy. Greatest ever. It is seriously going to be epic.

This, NHL '08, and Halo 3 are the reasons I bought my Xbox360. I'm not really that into Gears. Best part about this game is you can interact with absolutely any part of the environment. You can jump on tables and climb up a crack in the wall, or run along a roof and use support beams to go from rooftop to rooftop.

I've been following this game since forever and I'm soooooooo excited. God I can't wait, it looks absolutely amazing. And you enter three cities (not just Jerusalem but also Damascus and Acre) and do missions in them, apparently there are also a few smaller villages in the surrounding landscape with missions etc. in them.

I mean Crysis has amazing ass graphics especially with DX10 but AC has new gameplay, which I have to check out.

This game has me literally shitting my undies with excitement. Everything detail of the game looks perfect!
But it sounds like it's going to be a fairly short game because there's only a few targets.
Or will it take hours to reach each one?
I love the idea of blending in with the crowd to reach your target and stuffs, but I hear Ubisoft are also basing the next Splinter Cell around the gameplay mechanics in Assassin's Creed. It's dissappointing that they're now trying to turn a succesful franchise into something more or less the same as a new franchise they're releasing.

This is one of the five reasons to own a 360. Bioshock, Assasins Creed, Halo 3, Jericho, and Mass Effect. (I have already played Gears WAY too much so I need new shooters.) You can't honestly say that when you read a review you don't rethink your purchase of a game if it's getting a few bad reviews. I mean, I've read a few reviews and I've noticed that they say it's repetitive, which makes me nervous. Shit, I don't know. There are only nine, very similar missions according to people who got a copy early. The general consensus seems to be that the game is incredible for the first hour or so, and then becomes samey and dull. I'm hugely disappointed. Also, you just hold a button and run to do the parkour.

Ditto.
I'm going back over in 42 minutes. I'll definitely have a review of the first mission or so by this afternoon.
So I'm a bit disappointed. I went to GameStop, and they only had gotten the Standard Edition in, I ordered the Collectors. They said it should be in early in the afternoon, so I meandered around the mall, by 1:30 they didn't have it yet, so I said screw it, downgraded to the Standard, and they gave me one of the art books for it. So that sucked.
The game so far is amazing. STORYLINE SPOILERS: I expected the game to be set entirely in the 11th century or whenever. Turns out, It's almost futuristic, and the game is set in your ancestral memory. Also, initially in the game, you have every ability you'll ever get, but you lose them and have to earn them back. I haven't really gotten too far as of yet, so I don't know too much. However, I can tell it's quite a good story.
The fighting is a tad repetitive, but on the other hand you're to focus more on being stealthy, and those elements are extremely fun.

I played this game for.. I think 8 and a half hours today - hardly got repetitive. Maybe it just doesn't take much to entertain me, or maybe I just really want to love this game, or maybe it's legitimately good. But, seriously, try the game before you make any important decisions.
EDIT: Oh, and, just FYI, if you don't like riding through the kingdom(midland between towns), once you do the first three assassinations in the towns, you can basically just teleport to each town. Pretty sweet imo. That, and once you get all your weapons back, the game becomes a lot more fun.

I got the game last night and only got through the very very beginning (2 achievements). I must say that even though the combat is a tad simplistic, the finishing moves are very satisfying. I also really enjoy climbing, the animation is so natural its great to watch. hopefully I can get more into the story today to really see how the game is.
I think a review is in order.
Someone?
I'll do my damnedest to give it a review; I think I'm the farthest in so far.
Well, the game is fun. That's probably obvious. The free running, the random assassinations, the large-scale battles of mass killing guards, it's all fun. Even the assassinations are something that gets the adrenaline flow going. There's only one thing I find bad with this game - repetition. It's very fun, I will NOT deny that, but, after 6 assassinations, I don't feel the want to pick up this game and play it further. It seems to have become more of a task than a game. I think there needs to be something to deviate from the constant investigation, free running and killing, ya know? I like this game, but, I fear that it has no replay value after I beat the main storyline.
Oh, and, as for buying, I have no regrets about it, nor do I plan on taking it back, but if you're on a low budget and you're not so sure about this game - rent it before you buy it.

I just finished getting the first assassination (after forgetting I had my sword, not hidden blade out) that scared me at first because I thought the getaway would involve everyone chasing after me. The chase wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, I actually backtracked to pick up some nearby flags haha. I am really enjoying the story so far, and I think that is what will drive me to finish this game, though I don't think I can list who is who when names come up.

When is it coming out for PCs?

I've played this game at a friends house. I didn't do anything that important, but just going around killing people and such.
I like the climbing and shit, but it's not really that fun. I didn't play it for long so that may be why, but I find it a lot funner to kill guards and people. The animations is totally awesome and seems totally natural when flying around buildings, But the fighting is so simplistic and awesome I just love it.
You would think that button mashing would get old by now, also along with the brain-dead guards, but I love it. The counter attacks are sick and it really feels like you're dealing some damage.

There isn't really any button mashing going on in fighting, all you have to do is hold down right trigger, and press x when one attacks.
I have to say, this game is beautiful, fun, and interesting, but DAMN there are a shitload of bugs! The first bug I encountered was when jumping into the assassin's bureau in Damascus. Altair just sat there in a matrix like jump until I reset my PS3 fortunately the game saves often. Then next was just now in Jerusalem, I had just interrogated the guy preaching by the gate, then a few minutes later I had a massive Frames Per Second loss. I mean the audio became out of sync and everything.
Then a couple things that aren't really bugs just major annoyances, just getting near a horse makes you mount it, which can be irritating when trying to make a fast getaway. On top of that, horse follow you everywhere >_> Oh yes where did altair go? Oh I dunno but his horse is right next to that bench where a guy that looks just like him happens to be sitting :/
Another thing, he jumps way too often, often in Damascus when I was scaling a tower to get a better view, I would jump right off once i reached the top because of the buttons I had depressed from climbing.
Another thing, the guards are informed about you "red eye" when you havent even done anything. I was walking by in blend mode and then all the sudden i was attacked just for walking by. This reminds me of like Grand Theft Auto Jerusalem. It is fun but at the same time there is alot wrong with it that could have been fixed. I would give it a 8/10 tops.
Post
Yeah, I've heard that the PS3 version is a lot worse than the 360 one. Dunno why, though.

Is it possible to be too well known in a city as a killer? Because the second time I'm in Jerusalem, since I couldn't find where to go I just saved all the citizens/killed a bunch of guards. I went to the church in the corner of Jerusalem and the door was open this time, but there was nothing to do in there but sit, so maybe I made it unplayable due to the fact they all know who I am?
edit: You only need to press the right trigger to climb (I had the same problem with jumping when I got to the top).

The citzen and guard murdering sounds fun when a group of friends are over, not when your trying to prgress in the story.
I can barely wait to get it. DAMN YOU JESUS! BE BORN EARLIER!
Well, I am sorry to say that I am returning it to the store.
PS3 bugs apparently run rampant and I honestly am too pissed that they released it in this state to play any more of it. I might rent it if they every fix the bugs, but as for now I will be getting my money back. It could have been one of the top 10 games of the year if it didn't get released before it was done.
Frankly the PS3 is the comedy option, as it were.

I've played it and I really like it.
I'm on the third assassination, I chose to kill the wealthy Merchant in Damscus first, since I prefer the city of Damscus. I haven't completed it yet but I'm well on my way. It's definitely a good game and the free running etc. is definitely fun, good way of getting around town. I also like the fact that as the game goes on your reputation grows and the guards get more suspicious of you so you have to start acting more carefully - blend in with the crowd or gently push them out of the way rather than just mow them down.
So far the assassinations have been fun and fighting guards is good as well when you get the counter-attack HOWEVER; The whole save the citizens/view points/informers gets really repetitive considering there'se like 10 of each in every district of every city. I think they could have put a bit more into the side missions/mini-missions to be honest because I'm afraid that's going to get quite boring in the long run.
Speaking of Assassin's Creed though: I'm gonna go play some now : D

You should if you've been climbing up on the lookout points.
Also, LAG.What are you on about? The ps3 clearly overtakes the 360, and wii in power. The wii even overtakes the 360 in power, as did the gamecube and the xbox. The ps3 is the strongest and has the most memory speed, and uh... Cell processor, Blu ray technology? 1432 resolution?! The 360 falls flat on its face, other than it's game selection, but around March of next year ps3 will have a huge selection as well, or.. they'll scrap it and move to the ps4, like they say they're gonna do.

For whoever was saying the game need something to break up the monotony, I believe that part comes when you take over as Desmond and are able to begin piecing things together in the real world. If you're at the 6th assassination (I'm about to the 6th myself), you should already have the access code to unlock your room's door, as well as the access pens for both of the scientists, and the ability to read their emails. Also, make sure you talk to the female scientist every time you come out of the machine.. Not only does it give you an achievement, it reveals a lot of the plot that you'd otherwise miss. To me, this is a nice break from the constant run, jump, kill.

I finnished it yesterday, and it was fucking awesome. I've never been into a story of a game as much as this. This is deffinately one of my all time favorites. Though, the ending is a bit confusing, it's fucking awesome. There comes this point near the end when you're going to kill Robert, when you have to fight against like, 100 soldiers. Really fucking epic. Unlike other games/movies, the plot twist was really unexpected. To the people that say it has almost no replay value: fuck you. I'm going to start a new game, but without the gps and map and sync bar and shit, so I really have to look for clues. I almost never replay games so that means it really is fucking awesome. I agree that the process before an assassination can become a bit boring, but that's just a small issue compared to the game's awesomeness. I give this game a 1000000000/10.

Not necessarily that, it just gives you more insight into your assassination targets. To be totally honest, so far, the part of the story I've found most interesting is the real life stuff with Desmond. The assassin's backstory is pretty bland, so far, to me.

That's somewhat of a spoiler, but anyway, you have to find the access codes during the times when you're in the normal world. You find the first one around day 3 or 4, after you're done in the Animus. When you enter your room, the towel closet will be open, and you'll find a key code to open your door. At that point you'll find Lucy Stillman's 'pen' with her access code next to the computer, and you can access her emails. The next day, Vidic will wake you up, then walk to his desk and stand with his back to you looking out the window. Walk up to him and interact, and you'll pick the pen out of his pocket. That's as far as I've gotten so far, don't know if there's more.
