In addition to Metalocalypse Season 2, and the imminent release of the first season on DVD (10/2/2007 US), Dethklok has also put out a full length album. I had been anticipating this album for months and as soon as the closest music store opened, I bought it.
From the pounding gallop of the opening track, Murmaider to the symphonic finale "Deathharmonic", Dethklok (Brendon Smalls/Gene Hoglan) deliver a kickass album. Many of the original songs from the show have been polished and extended to full length songs, while "Lost Vikings," "Better Metal Snake," and "Thunderhorse" aka “The Viking Trilogy” were recovered from sessions deleted by Nathan Explosion (according to the liner notes). While some of the tracks on Dethalbum sound a bit different from their original show versions, they are of a far better quality both rhythmically, and riff-wise. For a band completely fictitious, Dethklok outdoes many of the real ones. Overall it is a great record and definitely worth the money, buy it now!
