It is a stupid rule, get rid of it.

You go into the threads to see art, not links. So what if it stretches the border that you aren't there to look at anyway? I can understand in other forums because there isn't a huge demand for large images, but I mean like for the upcoming comic contest, I will not be looking forward to umpteen links for the different panels of the comics. It is a stupid rule and it nets more infractions than most other things.

I think it will be good for the comic comp, since it'll encourage the contestants to keep their comics at 550px or whatever it is.

Yeah, at the expense of clarity and detail. It's hard to make larger blocks of text legible without using a large font in a 520px square which by the way is my cap without breaking tables. 550px is for average length usernames.

I'll have to agree sometimes it goes overboard. The point of the rule is to stop people from breaking the tables with MASSIVE images that fuck up the layout, not ones that slightly block go under the ads. The mods are a bit nit-picky.

Anyone considering this at all?

It makes sense in the other forums, but perhaps table-breaking should be allowed in Showcase.

But then, it's really no trouble just to click a link.

I like the infractions for it. Keeps the forums tidy.

Actually, you'll find I've been cutting back on infractions for images slightly over the limit. The problem is, if you say - only ban for the BIG pictures! Who decides how big is too big? If you make a flat out rule, "Don't stretch the tables" then it's far easier to enforce.

Anyway, If your making a comic, stack the frames vertically and there's no problem.

Its annoying when you scroll through a thread.

Just warn the newer people. A lot of people working in flash know nothing about dimensions and how large they are on the forums. Post a max. width for people to make these things.

Wouldn't it be easier just to make the max width 600?

Except that stretches the tables for me.

It tells you in the rules and on the front page of fan art.

Also, I do warn the new guys, either by PM or a zero-point infraction.
