I saw this at another forum where it was called Noob Safe Haven and people under 100 post were posting. It was pretty much like spame but it had some ground rules. Such as letting newcomers post with other people, ask their question, and talk about stuff that would help them know the layout of the forum. It showed who moderated what and who you should watch for. There is a lot of new people coming to Explosm so I figured it would help them not get banned on their first day.

Just a thought comments?

I do not think we really need one. Look at all the people who have joined and have not been banned on their first day. If someone wants to join and contribute to the forum then they are going to read the rules and obey them. If you look around here you catch on, so there is not really a need for a forum for noobs to ask questions.

I think it's a good idea, although newbs should read the rules on the first day, I think it would be good for newbie questions. This is so that newbs can freely ask questions without posting a thread in a forum where most people will just fuck with the person.
Even if that is fun.
If we have a forum like this, we could easily get most newbies to understand how the forum works easily. Unwritten rules and such. It should give newbs a feel of the forum so they don't go around unintentionally pissing people off. The forum shouldn't have a post count, as well.

As for the safe haven part, you could make it so people get infractions for giving false advice or making stupid jokes.

No way. If you've just joined a forum, you wouldn't want to be excluded from the start. It'd feel like you had to sit at the children's table and most people would leave after about a week.

With the current new members I don't see what the problem is here

People SHOULD lurk before they sign up anyway. I thought that was the motivation behind registering. Having an extra process after they register is stupid.

I agree that a lot of retards sign up and get banned immediately, but we should just punish for that instead of assuming everyone's guilty of not lurking.

I never lurked and I turned out not banned.

I lurked before I signed up and even though I didn't get banned I still got flamed to high hell

I didn't really even get "flamed" that bad.

Haha. What did you do?

Haha. What did you do?

I think it was because I posted too much about nothing in particular. I was only really posting to try to impress people anyway, which obviously didn't work

Everyone gets flamed in spame though. Even if you're a super nice person at least one person is going to call you a cock or something.

Noob forum seems like a boring idea to me. If you have a question go to the help forum. That's what it's there for.

I've never been flamed outside of spame, but even in spame the worst it got was when my threads fail or Quadros tells me to die in a fire. Quite frankly, I don't care. But we would just have this "Noob Haven" be optional, it wouldn't be like a pit for noobs(which would be hilarious, but cruel). Then again, it seems like a stupid idea, because I know all the spamers will just raid it and make everyone cry.

I don't like it, the flaming in spame turned me into a man. Being "sheltered" is just prolonging the learning curve that is required to get a feel for Explosm, like most popular forums.

I never got flamed.

This won't make it easier to get used to the forum. It's like a home schooled kid being thrown into a public school.

I think the forum will give people a false sense of security.

They can just post in spame.

Let's make the forum really annoying and have seperate areas exclusive to each consecutive hundred of posts

Yes, nothing bad will come of this.
