So what does the average Explosm user use for listening to music? Headphones? Computer Speakers? Etc. Including car audio.

Personally, I listen to almost all of my music in one of 2 places, on my computer or in my car. For my computer I have the following setup:

SBLive! Stereo output from my computer going into a Technics SU-V98 Stereo Integrated Amplifier with a Technics SH-8057 7-band Stereo Graphic Equalizer.

From there it's fed into a pair of Technics A-70 3-way speakers down below my desk (no room to stand them up), and a pair of Panasonic SB-AK27 3-way speakers on top of my desk.

Amp and Equalizer (http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s210/lierofox/P9280060.jpg)
How it looks overall (http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s210/lierofox/P9280061.jpg)

Oh. And a pair of cheap Magnavox headphones from a portable CD player.

I also drive around a lot, so I felt that a decent setup there was in order.

For the deck in my car, I have a Sony Xplod MEX-BT5000 headunit. Those go into a pair of amplifiers in the trunk (Sony Xplod 600watt 4/3 amp for the speakers and a Sony Xplod 780watt 2/1 amp for the subwoofers.) The subwoofers are a pair of 10in 700 watt Pyramids (I've never heard of them, but they were gifts) in a sealed enclosure. The rear speakers are Pioneer 3-way 240watt 6x8 speakers, and the front speakers are 6 1/2in 3 ways (don't remember the brand name.)

Very few pictures of that, only 1 of the 2 amps and the sub enclosure.
Here (http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s210/lierofox/P1001790.jpg)
And a picture of the headunit (http://www.kalogeropoulos.gr/LH2Uploads/ItemsContent/7265/mexbt5000.jpg)

And no, the subwoofers are not turned up to the point where everyone around me can hear them, I actually like to hear music, not noise.

So what about you? How do you feed your ears?

I have a Coby 2GB MP3 Player, an Xbox360, and my computer. That about coves it.

Record player. I hate cds and MP3s. I used to burn cds onto my Xbox, but I got rid of it all because I changed my taste in music. I listen to strictly vinyl. I have a 1973 record player, and the jacks are from speakers they don't make anymore, so I had to plug a guitar amp into it. Currently, my record player isn't working.

The only, ONLY time I buy cds is to listen to them in the car. I hate them more than anything, and I still quite don't know why.

I have a pretty good 5.1 surround sound gaming headset which lately as I figured out how to take the mic attachment off it is my music player, and it's pretty perfect as I listen prettymuch exclusively to tool and nine inch nails recently.

Oh man that sucks. Vinyl is a very VERY nice medium to listen to if it's kept clean and free from scratches, nothing beats uncompressed fully analog audio, but keeping them in good condition, as well as the space they take up can make a large music collection kinda awkward.

My computer. I just use iTunes, since I'm lazy and it's easy to use.
In my car I just have the same CD player that I bought with it. The car is a 2001 Toyota Corolla, so the speakers are still pretty good.

I, like all teenagers, listen to a lot of music, I'm just not all that caring about what it gets played through. As long as it's clear, I'm happy.

Up until ast April I was still lugging around my RCA CD Player. But then I finally purchased a Creative ZEN Vision:M, 30gb.

I've gone through several headphones though. I tend to swing them around. I prefer Sony headphones.

At home, I sometimes I plug in my ZEN to my RCA stereo. Or just listen to music from my laptop, coming out of Coby speakers.

Creative Zen For the win. I own the same thing.

At home, I use Windows Media Player 10 (because the latest one is shit).

Now, I have a 5.1 Surround sound system in my room. However, i only have a Stereo Jack going into it with my laptop. It's a shame really. I might get round to borrowing this (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=206&product=10702), which my dad has, and using the optical output. That would be so sweet.

At home I listen my music with Winamp. I have some hercules 5.1 sound card and Creative inspire p5800 5.1 speakers. And they are teh sex. When nobody's at home I turn the speakers really loud and enjoy. But at my dads place I have to listen music with my laptop speakers which suck. I used to listen my creative zen sleek photo with my Pioneer se-m380 headphones, but now they're both busted :frown: .

My iPod. If I'm listening to music on the cpu it's usually because I need to listen to the song before I put it on my iPod. I can sit down and do mostly anything by itself(ie: eat, watch tv, play videogames) But just sitting down to listen to music is one thing I get very bored of. So if I'm listening to music it's usually on the go or if I'm outside doing some shit.

But, since then it is either on my computer with my Logitech x530 5.1 surround sound speakers Or in my 95 ford laser. I have stock speakers but a Panasonic headdeck that is reversed on the flip down and some of you may remember my attempt in spame t instal my sub and amp. Well I sintalled my Boss ba-1000 amp and Sony xplod sub pretty easy actually. Alpine s-type 6'inchs and alpine s-type 6x9's are coming soon.

At home I use windows media player and some shitty generic dell speakers that came with my computer to listen to music. On the go I use my Dell Pocket DJ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Digital_Jukebox#Dell_Pocket_DJ) MP3 player, which is basically the same thing as one of those Creative Zens or whatever the fuck they're called. I got it back around the time they still sold Ipod Minis (And like the mini, they're no longer sold), I think that it's of higher quality that most types Ipods, considering it's lasted me so long when Ipod tend to die after a year, and attract scratches like a magnet.

I really don't listen to music enough to need an MP3 player, so mostly I do it at my computer. iTunes + the round speakers that Apple ships with all iMacs. My dad's renting a furnished house for a bit and the owners have a turntable and TONS of records, so when I'm over there I'll pop something in.

Ahem.

My Mac is currently hooked up to a vintage 4 channel mixer and than out to more vintage Bose Speakers. It sounds freaking awesome even though its only stereo.

For my iPod I use Shure e3s. They are quite fantastic. I also have a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, that sound really good. I can't hear anything but the music with those on.

It has shit memory, only 200mb, the headphone jack fucks up and will only play the left phone when I hold the cord a certain angle. To change songs I have to physically turn the top part which, after at least 3 and a half years, is almost completely trashed. It can record voice too. I want something new but I don't have the money right now. My computer speakers are fucked up as well. I dropped them once and now they will only play at top volume and only the right one plays. I'd get new ones if I had any kind of money. I use WMP 11 cause it plays music fine. I can shuffle and repeat all so it works.

Depending on the size of the drivers, and the make of them. A lot of big ass headphones still just have shitty amplifiers and 1/2 inch drivers and only look professional because of their size. Also, quarter inch jacks allow for clearer signal in the high end, but no one but a real tight ass trained pro would be able to hear the difference. Like anything, you get what you pay for. My pairs cost about $359 each retail. They are sweet ass.

2.1? So like stereophonic and a sub?

x.1 usually denotes the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) channel, since it doesn't reproduce the full range audio that the other channels do.

So basically yeah, Stereophonic and a sub.

I got my old (but fucking badass) speakers and put them with my new computer with its (crappy) new small speakers (which can't really produce alot of bass). I used to use the old Itunes, but I quit using it. I started to use Limewire, then the Zune Program. I also have a small stereo.

When I'm on the run I have a Zune 30, with a large selection of music (around 2000 songs) . Before that I had a pirated version of the Ipod Nano (but it could play videos). And before that I had a Ipod Mini. With my Ipod Mini, my friend filled it up with some pretty good (and some pretty crappy music). Later I ripped all the music to my new hard drive.

Either my shit computer with shit speakers and shit onboard sound card, or my brand new shiny black 80 gig iPod Classic with in-ear headphones. They (the headphones) are overpriced as all hell but to me, they're worth it.

I'm not the biggest fan of in-ear headphones. I like big monster stereo phones. They block out sound and they sound amazing. All the better for music enjoyment.

I haven't tried out any big cans lately. I feel they're too expensive, and I like my headphones to be discreet. I feel like a douche with those things broadcasting "I R MUZAK NTUSiAST!" to everyone around me.

iMac speakers rock, just so you know, and my 30 gig iPod has all the same music.

Edit: Also I just made an awesome-ass (any word works if you add ass to it) iPod dock out of a Kerosene lamp, four D cell batteries and an old cell phone.

iPod Shuffle. i got it free when I went for a career induction. Everyone says that these arent as good as normal iPods but I reckon its much more compact and still holds plenty music, and is easier to use. I don't know how many GBs its got but it holds something like 248 songs. If I'm on my laptop though I just use iTunes.

3-way speakers are terrible and this sony setup produces noise, not music.

:facts:

im sorry, sm, but this install is absolutely terrifying.

Pink 8 GB iPod Nano with the headphones that come with it. If I want to listen to music without headphones, though, I just play music off my laptop since I don't have a stereo. In the car I just listen to the radio and not CD's, so I don't think I've bought a CD in about 3 years.

Creative ZEN 4gb (http://regmedia.co.uk/2007/08/29/creative_zen_1.jpg). Just bought it a few days ago, and it's awesome. The thing is exactly the size of a credit card. I even bought a leather case to protect it and I use my glasses' shammy to remove fingerprints from the screen and buttons.

My headphones are Sennheiser PMX 60 street phones (http://www.johnlewis.com/jl_assets/product/230173953.jpg). I also use my Logitech speakers/woofer when I'm at home and don't feel like wearing headphones. When I'm at work, I plug my ZEN into the stereo with a line-in cable and blast it through the whole store.

How much did that cost? I need a new one with more memory. I have the 2 gb one right now and that cost about $90 when I got it just before christmas however the volume button is broken on it already. Other than that I really like the zens and wouldn't be opposed to getting another if the price wasn't too bad.

I spent:

$99.99 on the player
$19.99 on the two-year warranty
$0.00 on the leather case (they threw it in for free after I bought the warranty)

I intended to pay for all three before I even stepped inside, so I basically scored a free $30 case.

I might buy an SD card for it later, but it's not even halfway full yet and it has my entire music library on it.

Exact same as my V plus model I had except two major differences:
1: More memory. At 8gb this doubles my previous space limitations with the ability to expand it with sd cards.
2:The screen is gorgeous and movies look beautiful on it, as opposed to the v plus where not only size of screen but memory limits as well. Now I have enough room for all of my songs, adds up to just under 1300 but I also have enough room for about 4 movies which will be good for long plane and train rides.

I usually listen to music when I have to take the bus/metro and in my bedroom when I'm just relaxing on my bed, talking on the phone or doing other useless things like sudoku.

In the bus/metro I use my iPod and my Sony MDR XD2000 headphones. I think they sound quite good for 40 dollars.

Oh man that sucks. Vinyl is a very VERY nice medium to listen to if it's kept clean and free from scratches, nothing beats uncompressed fully analog audio, but keeping them in good condition, as well as the space they take up can make a large music collection kinda awkward.

What about those tracks that take up about 40mb of space on your disk drive? Those are amazing.... I try and listen to music as uncompressed as I can find it. Mp3's sound like they're being played through a coffee can.

That being said, at home I stream music from whatever computer I'm using wirelessly to a homebuilt box hooked to my 7.1 surround. In my truck, it's just factory stereo, but it's an '07 Tacoma, so it sounds really good anyway.

1 My car, since I'm on the road 15 hours a week.
2 My laptop, usually with headphones, since I use my laptop a lot but I don't like to force other people to hear what I'm playing.
