Where Do You Find Your Avatars?

I'm curious to know where everyone finds theirs, because I see some really cool animated avatars, and some really crappy ones. Such as mine. I would like to know the best place to find some good ones, plus I'd like to see the variety of sites given by where people look.

I joined Newgrounds a while ago (like 4 years?) and they have a really big list of avatars of their own you can use. Or they had, I have no idea if they're all still there. Anyways I just liked the Mr. Sparkle thing. The episode was alright and it flashes. But right now it's not. You have to wait for it.

Usually find them wandering on 4chan - though they're giant, monstorous things. I use a free online application to apply transparency, crop, and resize to fit the needs of whatever forum I'm on.

Or! Wander Chinese/Japanese/Thai fan forums and steal their avatars. Those orientals have the cutest things ever, and for the most part they're not shitty. Then again I'm a total whore for anime. Whatever suits your fancy, I guess.

I generally use album art for an album I like (my current one, on this site, at least, is Fear Before the March of Flames' The Always Open Mouth), and I search Google images for one that's around 50x50, and then save it, and use mspaint to put a border around it.

For my avatars, I usually find something Bad Ass and shape it to my design. Example, I just took Paper Mario, zoomed up on his face, and colored the background blue with MS Paint. It turned out quite nice, If I say so myself. But they barely ever turn out awesome.. here was my old Leonidas avatar:
