In the last few months I've been learning Photoshop. I've done a little bit of photo editing, but my real passion so far has been space scenes. I'll admit that I think some of them are crap. What do you think though?

They're too messy. Space isn't cluttered.

If I had to choose a favourite, it would probably be the first because of the simplicity. However... lensflares for the lose.

As urser implied, simplicity is better.

Sure, exploding planets are mega-awesome, but if you're making a space picture make it smooth and simple. Pictures of space should be majestic and capture a sense of grandiose.

Anyway, the art itself is okay. Make it more simplistic and it'll stand out more. :douchecock:

I like 1 and 5 the most. The planets look too flat, not spherical at all :wail: But i do like the simpler ones.

Way to break the tables like fuck.

Anyways, they are ok, but not much to interest the viewers.

+The last one is just awful.

Your planets are too flat. I suggest learning the sphere-ize filter, as well as effects of the blur tool. Stars aren't that uniform, and come in different sizes and clusters. Try some variation with them. Also, taking a smooth brush and blobbing out a pink / orange ish nebula would also help. Filter > Render > clouds on a seperate layer, and then overlaying them is another way to do stardust clouds or nebulas. For the sun, when you use the lens flare filter for a sun, the 105 mm prime works best in my opinion. FINALLY, to make a planet, go google a terrain or a planet landscape, and paste it into the O you can make with the elipse tool, and you can color / sphereize from there. Heres an example of how it looks when it comes together.

Note, I didn't do a nebula here. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/Staerfeldt/BG-SpaceScenecopy.jpg)

pretty good, you need to work on the earths texture a bit.

It's kind of cool, but nothing incredibly special. Also, go with more variation when it comes to the stars.
