Ok so what made you choose your username? Is it the same name you use on every forum or other net bases thang? Did you come up with especially for C&H?
For me, I've always been fascinated with the idea of Subliminal advertising but didn't want to go with just the word. I realized that "Sublyminal" when shortened became Sublym or Sublime. So may name doubles as Sublime and Subliminal.

When I signed up I had no idea what to use for a username, so I picked the first thing I saw which was a Red Jezebel song called "In Transit". I didn't think of the whole tranny thing till after it was too late.
Back in 2004 I started playing City of Heroes and named my first character there Farwielder. Where I thought of it before that I have no idea. Anyway that was also my name on the boards there which most people, in game and on the boards, shortened to Far. After that I just sort of adopted it as my name for all the boards I visited. I honestly didn't plan on staying here as long as I have but I like the name anyway so it's all good.

It started with the name of Monkey, which I just thought up out of some random crevice of my brain, I think I was watching a program on animal planet just I went off and played Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault, so I made my name as Monkey. And a couple of days or so later, I was running around like a crazed fucker killing everything in sight, and getting into some completely insane situations and only just making it out alive, and some dude is like "Fuck, you're one crazy monkey", and another guy said, "Yeah, it's like he has rabies or something". So I said "Yeah, I'm a Rabid Monkey lol". And then I just thought, well hey, thats a pretty cool name. So I changed it to that, and then a year or so later, I tried to make an account on Shattered Galaxy, but RabidMonkey, RabidMonke, and many other variations were taken, so I had to make it DaRabidMonke, (The Rabid Monkey) and I started using that. So now I use both Rabid Monkey and The Rabid Monkey.

A few years ago, I was trying with my friend how signs other than characters are sorted in our MSN contact list. So I came at this 'ƒ', which is used on music notes for 'forte' (loud).
As I am a musician, I thought hey that would be a nice nickname for me. At that time, I just bought a cd box of Trance Opera. One of that cd's was named Fortissimo (very loud), with a song in it with the same name. It's still one of my favourite cd's (just like many others). I knew this nickname wouldn't be already in use by anyone.
On the forum Skyscrapercity, I began to used ƒƒ as my nickname. Some other forums however, like C&H, ask to use at least 3 signs in the nckname, so I put those hyphens before and after.
When I have to use two accounts, like on Ebay (as I don't live at home this 5 months), I use for the second account the nickname 'tvintje', where 't vintje means 'the little guy'. It's the dialect of the place where I was born.

Back when I used to do sword fighting and shit, a lot of the blokes named their swords. So I named mine Souldrinker. It then went on to become the name of the sword owned by a dude from my stories. Then along comes the interwebs, and it became my username.

I started out as TempestDevil in 2002 after reading The Tempest by Shakespeare. :indiff: I don't know where I got the Devil part from, but it stuck, and until recently it's been my username for near 5 years.. But I've taken to dropping the Devil and just using Tempest now.

But I started using it after I read Stephen Kings 'Firestarter', where there was a bad guy (an indian) named John Rainbird, and I figured it was kinda cool (the guy was pretty badass)

Well mine comes from one of my old friends in middle school had a Spastic Colon. I remember we would have like sleep overs and he would always go home because his Spastic Colon was acting up. For some reason this popped up in my head when i was making my user name, and so i just went with it.

The first time I chose it I actually thought I'd just made it up randomly. Then I re-read "Mostly Harmless" by Douglas Adams (last in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, in case you're interested... thought not) and discovered that the name of the god on the world Arthur Dent lives on for a while is called The Almighty Bob.

This has always been my username for everything I use, mostly because I love the die hard movies.
Well a couple years ago I was a big Nirvana fan, so I started to use the name Nevermind for most of the things I joined.
When I joined Explosm I wasn't much of a big fan anymore but I still liked it as a username.
My name was eventually changed to NVM, but its still a shortened version of Nevermind rather than N.V.M.

Ok, my username has an interesting story. I used to listen to Punk music a while back 2, 3 years ago and there was this band called Inquisition. They had a song called Bulletproof, where one of the lines of the chorus was: "Ideas are Bulletproof." And I made that my screen name on Counter-Strike. I then shortened it to Bulletproof, then to see what people would say I put Moses after it, then to mock someone I put Guy at the end, leaving me with: Bulletproof Moses Guy.

Well I originally had intended to be "not lettuce" seeing as I'm not aformentioned vegetable. But, due to some screwed up email thing which turns out my passport email is different from my email, I signed up with an email that didn't exist. So I signed up again with the correct email with Coconuts (As in "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts").
Nothing really has happened with this name other than some people calling me Coco for short.

Being that I was the only one that could make works of art because I was the only one without Artificial Intelligence, and due to the fact that During the Battle of Meteor Creek I successfully dodged a barrage of bullets. I became the "Artful Dodger". I put the "Da" to relate to the urban community.
That and 'cause I thought that the artful dodger in Oliver Twist is pretty bad-ass.

'Twas the spring of 2006 I think? I was trying to come up with a witty new email address that people would recognize as me at a glance. Even though I'm not religious, I went with jewishjosh because I liked the alliteration. It stuck but lately I've only been using it to sign up for sites that I think I'll come back to. Odd that I used it for Explosm and never really posted for almost a year.

When I was in 6th grade or something I wanted an email address with out any number in it. Somewhere I heard or saw the term gizza and liked it but it was already taken as an email address. So I decided to add some love. When I joined the forums I was too lazy to be creative and come up with something else and now I just use gizzalove for everything.

I joined my first internet forum about 2 years ago, and I was heavily into Muse and Hysteria was one of my favorite songs, but when I joined the first site I had this username on, it was simply "Hysteria", but when the site sent me an activation code I deleted the email by accident, and had to re-reg and decided to add an underscore, but that time I had to use an old msn, and it sent the activation code for my second account to the old msn, and when I tried to sign in I got the message from MSN saying "you haven't used this account etc. be sure to log in every 30 days", and apparently my inbox wasn't capable of recieving emails up until I signed in, but the activation code was already sent.
By this time, I had convinced myself I needed a new msn anyway so I created the msn I use now, and made the username "Hysteria__". Sadly, I grew out of Muse about 2 months after I created the account, but I've been a member on 6 or 7 forums since that original site and it's just easier to make my username the same on each site.

Look across your average American keyboard. The 6 is above the y, but, I don't know why I have two. I've had this name for years, though. Never really felt the need to change unless I had to, but even then, I still use this when I can.

Well I started out with grim. (The grim adventures of Billy and Mandy.) Then a few years later I started to use leet speak. So I changed it to 1337_grim. But now I don't like it at all. (I was slowly drifting from it when I joined the forums here.) So if there was an option to change my name. I would go back to grim. (sometimes I used GRIM. Or other variations of it.) And if that is taken then I would go with another name like zeke (CtrlaltDel-online.) But mostly grim.
Edit: Thanks to kwanza, I had my name changed to Grim. (If you ask me I say he's a nice guy.)

I normaly use Fred or Maskineriet on forums, but both wouldn't work here. Fred in Swedish means Peace, but also a part in my name (Fredrik).
Maskineriet (sometimes Motormaskineriet) means "The Factory". Motormaskineriet means The Motorfactory.
So I chose Hats Off. But I misspelled on purpuse so I could write on my signature "Hats of Rabbits!".
My friends are calling me 'ne', shortened from 'Niels' which is a danish name. So I started using it on the internet too, since I thought it was pretty good, and nobody really used it, allowed me to use this name anywhere i wanted. Just not on this site, apparently, so I changed it to nee, but that didn't help either, then I just used ne3. :indiff:

I have no idea where I got the name. AbstracT was taken so I started thinking of random words and seeing if they were taken or not. Savvy was the first one I tried that wasn't in use. It's become my standard nick on pretty much everything.

I use it for everything since no one else uses it. I thought of it when I had to make up an email address to work on some project for school.

When I was in like, 3rd grade, I drew picture of a superhero named Benjaman (Ben is also my name). The 36 I cant remember where I got it from, but I always use this name for pretty much everything.
I thought MechanicalKarasu sounded cool.
Then Ox called me Mr. Crow, and I decided that sounded cooler.

I was going to make a website with names like "abortedfetus.com" "myunbornfetus.com" "lookadeadfetus.com" etc. All of which were taken. I was planning on joining the Explosm Forums in the summer of 2005, but I couldn't think of a name. Around April '06, I almost joined, I was at school and the bell rang while I was doing the registration. Then October of '06 I just said "Fuck it! I'm joining Explosm! And now I have a name!"

I took this username years ago while I was making characters for a short story I was writing. Zephyr is the name of the West Wind, and I just added -us to the end to make it sound better.
I got the idea when I felt not enough people hated me in Counter-Strike.

I have had my user name for years. I began to use it when I came out to my friends and family. Now I use it because the true meaning of queer is odd or different, and that just fits me to. The 69 came because well, it is fun.
when WoW came out, i needed a name that i hadnt really seen in game yet (i had a few other char to 14 before i made my main) and i came up with Songi, i got it from legend of legaia

As a sort of militaristic organization, we of the Pish army decided that it would be prudent to assign each member a rank, because that's just how it goes. Originally I was known as The Count of Monte Cristo, it was the name I first used when I signed up on this forum/text based game, and I used it because I had just seen the film. Eventually The Count of Monte Cristo became Count of Monte Cristo, and then I wanted a change and I asked an e-buddy of mine what it should be and he said "Hmm...what about just Cristo?" and it stuck. I've used it since I was 13, and now I'm 17. Only later did I realise that Cristo was Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Latin for Christ, but hey with an ego and a sense of self-worth like mine it's not far off ;)

There are several possibilities for how I got the name Relaps. All of these begin at the 11th of October, 2002 on Stick Suicide, and my username back then was "Relapsforeva", but only one of these is the true answer.
1) I might have been inspired by the violent stick movies that I went out and got an animation program, and started to do my own in gif-ish format. It was a looped animation of a guy running, and killing people as he went, and repeated forever, so he kept making re-laps forever. Get it?
2) I might have liked a song that was given out with AcidPro's loops package. It was called Relapse, and I had edited a bit so it was longer, and named it "Relapse (Forever Mix)". Due to SS's character limit for names, I shortened it down to "Relapsforeva". Get it?
3) I might have been egosticical at the crazy age of 12, and thought I would last forever, so named myself Relapseforeva, but forgot the "e" in Relapse. Get it?
One of those is real.

With explosm.net, I decided to make up a username based on an inside joke between one of my friends, and it's kinda been a name I would've used if I had made up a band. I dream big.

Sputnikkintups... where do i start...i found the name "sputnik" on the game worms armageddon. I liked the name so it was my team name. Then when i started playing daiblo, i put sputnik as a name, and it already being used, so i decided to use sputnik_15. Sputnik_15 is my normal username, but when it's taken, i use sputnikKintups.
(I figured out what sputnik was about 2 years after i started using the name.)

so yeah...I am asian, so that's the "Azn" part...and I thought Elite sounded cool/I am quite awesome (thanks) ha ha...yeah, that's how I got it.

A Kingdom of Loathing monster. It reminded me of a cross between a voracious carnivore and a giant zombie, so I used it. Because extremely hungry, flesh-eating giant zombies are awesome in my opinion.

Mine is Gaelic for "Chief". I kinda looked up a random, obscure name for Explosm and decided to pick this. I also searched it up on Wikipedia and it gave me an old PC Point and Click game with an interesting plotline.
I stole it from a little girl.

Hi, I'm CosmosForest. The first part of my name is a nickname bestowed upon me by someone who was very dear to me years ago. It also comes from the wonderful cartoon, 'The Fairly Odd Parents'.
The second part of my name is a referene to what I wanted to be when I grew up. I studied Forest Management in college for a while but dropped out before my fianls due to college administration being slower than a crippled snail! (poor snail - get well soon!!)
My name really should be read as Cosmo's Forest, but it's easier all in one word.
Alternatively, you can call me Gary.

Back in school, in the late 90's, we got a new computer system. Everybody's usernames started out as their first name, then first initial of middle and last names.
However, if you didn't like your username, you could ask the school to change it. Surprisingly I quickly did.

If you have ever played Half Life 2 you'll know that Gordan is the guy who is a "hero". There is a line in there that says "Some call him the one free man" so that is where it came from, GordanThe(One)Free(Man)
I wanted to be "Blue" since most of my usernames say "Blue" something, but it was taken, so i just came up with "Boom" probably from the song from System of a Down.
Mine is kind of embarrassing. Back when I was a bright-eyed, innocent little ten year-old, I really liked Roxy brand clothing. I then made the username for some things "RoxyGirlSurfChic".
I know.
People always shortened it to Roxy, and that was always how they knew me. I no longer liked the clothing, so I started putting an 'i' at the end instead of a 'y'. It just became my internet persona.
