Are you buying Halo 3? ANd if so, what kind and why?

I personally cannot wait for Halo 3, it looks amazing. If they find a way to severely increase multiplayer's funtastic lvls I'll be in hog heaven.

I've gone thru 4 gamer tags, DarkMounlain, Cyristic, xXxShIrOkInxXx and now kekaygenkai :) But I can't really play atm, my 360 has the "three red lights of death" thing going on, I found a supposed way to fix it but it requires me modifying hte motherboard and I don't have a screw bit small enough. I'm waiting for my damn new case to come which says it comes with everything needed to install it, which means it should hvae the right size bit because the case is screwed on. If it doesn't come with a bit I'll have to buy one, and if the whole damn thing doesn't work, I'll have to find a new 360 :'(

To be completely honest, the beta for Halo 3 sucked. It was Halo 2 re-hashed with slightly better graphics. The story doesn't have much potential, and I'm not expecting it to be anything other than a heap of steaming Halo 2.5, which technically would be Halo 1.6.

I've been thinking about buying it bootlegged, but I have to wait till someone bust the ISO, Downloads it, and burns it to a DVD-RDL. The date I think will be either Setember 20-October 15. Not to mention the 6 hour trip to Monterry Mexico.

But instead I am buying the Collectors Edition and probably the New Halo 360, with the Zune. I just need to get a job in gamestop.

I really hope you're kidding. What outstanding merits does it have that earns it even close to the title of best game ever made?

First off, they're horrible at creating what makes an enjoyable FPS. 90% of the entertainment in shooting it up, is rewarding head-shots. FPS games need kills that you just have to scream out, "FUCK YEAH". Halo doesn't offer than in the least. If in Halo, getting a head-shot resulted in their helmet smashing, parts of plastic and glass shot off with blood spewing out, and you hear a loud pop along with a voice congratulating you for your kick-ass shot, then it'd be rewarding.

Other than that failure it's nothing new. They took, let's say, Quake. Made it space-themed, fairly shit graphics, pretty good soundtrack, mix it with a cliche and awfully pieced together story, and an awfully lame attempt at a badass protagonist, and you have Halo. Nothing original, nothing new, nothing overly good.

Halo 3? Same old crap, except re-hashed, added reflections and shaders to the rendering, and ta-dah. 60 bucks for the same game you already bought once before.

On topic, however, i just had the pleasure of playing the new Bioshock Demo on my PC. Have a look around, that gets 100% as a score, it's been dubbed shooter 2.0. Hate to break your little halo heart, but It's been the best thing on xbox, but that still isn't saying much, buy Bioshock and the orange box when it comes out, then you'll have an excellent multiplayer and singleplayer experience. Decent ones.

I also heard that they added a new feature to Multiplayer called "Forge". Its just really adding more stuff in a multiplayer map while you play (adding more guns, more cover, ETC).

Send it to microsoft and if my warranty wasn't already voided, spend a couple hundred bucks and probably have all my data removed in the process (They claim no responsibility if this happens)

Forge is a step down from pure map making (something I loved doing in SoF) but hey, this a console, conventional map making won't work. And its custom games only, this can be done in multiplayer in Halo 2 but thats called modding. You can't create whole new maps but you can take out or place any new objects you want, which will be awesome for custom gametypes, (build a fort for a zombie game) then save and share the map with everybody, this along with the saved replay feature will be amazing.

Have a look at the Crysis comparison shots, i'd say we are pretty darn close to photorealism. The story is bad, you can't argue any decent point about it, you should play a game for the story along with everything else, because it adds depth. Take bioshock for example, hard to get more interesting, original and just plain awesome then that.

To continue the comparison of next gen shooters, bioshock also rates highly because, simply, it brings a new innovation and creativity to shooters. You pull the trigger at waves of enemies time and time again in Halo3, in Bioshock every sequence has a few ways of going about it, you can think up comibinations on how to eliminate the attacker, hundreds, you can hack consoles to get security to fight for you, even use abilities to make the enemy fight eachother, stun them and run past or set the entire room on fire.

And as for the "Everyone against H3 is a sony fanboi or doesn't like games" shows your incompetence. I mean, my god. My favourite weapon of choice is my keyboard & mouse on my PC. And it... :O... Isn't sony branded! Gaming is my passtime, my hobby, i spend alot of time with it when i have time to spare.

I work in a gaming shop, those lights basically mean that the hardware has failed, its a fault in about 13 million of them apparently. All you can do is get it replaced, but the warranty should still be good (it's 3 years here anyway, I presume it's the same everywhere), chances are you can get a replacement wherever you bought it. Opening it and tinkering probably wont work and will invalidate your warranty, not the best plan really!

Don't have an XBox, got Halo on the PC though, wasnt hugely impressed, good enough gameplay, and the online part is entertaining, but their are better games!

I meant fort for a zombies game type, not actual "zombies" in teh game. The "Zombie" game type in Halo 2 was green vs blue, one person starts out as green, he has the sword, everybody else is blue (human) if your killed by a zombie you have to change teams and only use the sword, humans can only use human weps (pistols, shotties etc) You could say having the zombies use swords would give them the advantage, but you'd be wrong :) Also, theirs no shields.

The reason I say anybody who doesn't like Halo is a PS3 fanboi is because it is a good game, one that you wouldn't like if you were more inclinced to sony games or PC games (yes I know xbox/pc both microsoft, but PC != console, and Halo 1/2 PC dont' count) Every one of you has compared it to games with "better graphics" or "better story" and usually not on the same system. I am not a Halo fan boi, I think its a great game, its not the best out there, I have other games I like more, but there is no game I think completely sucks like you all are saying about Halo 3.

Everytime I read a post about its story sucks or its graphics aren't much better I'm reminded of people arguing that Wii sucked because of its graphics, Nintendo isn't about graphics, its about gameplay, its not even trying to compete with Sony/Microsoft, it doesn't have to.

Halo has a good story, not as indepth as some games but its not horrible, and as for game play its a shooter, as in guns, of course most of it will be shooting enemies will rounds of bullets, I know bioshock is classified as a shooter and doesn't use guns, but name previously made FPS's that don't primarily if not only use guns, Bioshock is doing something knew, but saying it makes Halo alone suck is hypocritical, it would make all FPS before it suck by comparison. I don't claim to have played or even know of every FPS, but of all the ones I do know of, they all are primarily guns with extra stuff thrown in, grenades, throwing objects etc.

I also should bring up this point, Halo 3 is the end to a 3 part series, Bioshock is a completely original game, of course people are gonna be thinking "OOh its all new and shiny! ITS THE BESTEST EVAH!"

To end it all, yes I Know I am opinionated, I will always believe if you do not like a game I know to be good then you are in love with games from different parties or just games of different styles, I will not stand for just plain saying "This game sucks" and I have yet to see a valid opinion as to why. I want to know if you couple of guys who've posted against Halo 3 have even played the first two? Beaten campaign on legendary (the real game, lower difficulties are trivial) and played more than a couple games of multiplayer? If you've played countless hours and you just don't like it thats fine, but you cannot deny that something made you play it for that long.

Played through the campaign and countless hours of multiplayer because the multiplayer is the only thing it has going for it even remotely. Still think it's a garbage game. The only reason I played through the first was because I was at a friends and I couldn't sleep so I played through the entire game. One night. I played two because my brother got it and I was off school and I wanted to see if the story went anywhere. It didn't.

The game didn't "hold" me. I just have an inane urge to finish every game I start.

Meh. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on Halo 3. It looks to be Halo 2 with better graphics, a few new weapons (some of which are just remodeled classics), 1 new vehicle (which is basically an ATV), and OMG LOOK A HUMAN CANNON. The storyline was never amazing and while I did have fun playing the previous two, the Halo series just seems somewhat of a letdown after seeing how innovative shooters really can be (Gears of War, Bioshock, even Lost Planet). While it won't suck it definately won't be the greatest game ever created and I'll be saving my $60 for Assassin's Creed.

For the story haters, its your opinion. The games have a streamlined in a sense version of the actual story, which the books make up for. I loved Halo 1's ending and story, and the books got me to buy Halo 2. I didn't love Halo 2 as much as Halo 1, but the story got me more into it.

In my opinion, all games have a different way to tell their story. Some use cutscenes, some use in game conversations. Halo has a decent mix of both. I like that style. But please, don't be ignorant and say Halo lacks a story. Give me honest to God proof it has no story and I'll change my mind.

Choco, your also relating Gears to Halo, which isn't right. Both are shooters, yes, but Gears is a third person shooter, while Halo is a first. Gears is in a completely different category than Halo to me, but I think Gears is the next Halo in terms of how Halo skyrocketed to popularity.

The best FPS game, in my opinion, for the 360 is Rainbow Six : Vegas. It really has alot of guns, good storyline, the details really suck, but other than that it has really good graphics.

I'm not expecting Halo 3 to be the best, but a really good game for the 360. I may spends hours playing multi-player with a few friends of mine, but maybe 12-24 hours on campaign.

Honestly? I have played games years old with better gameplay than any of the halo games.

Halo added nothing for me "Ooh, lots of little enemies instead of a few big ones scary!" vehicles had been done before, similar weapons had been done before, similar maps had been done before, similar gameplay objectives had been done before, the only reason it was so popular is because it broke through on console, it hit the sweet spot of playable for console players, and a lot of people were like "oh, wow I can kill stuff and not be one of those losers who sits in his room playing one of those scary PC FPS'"

If Halo had launched on PC instead of a console it would have been a nothing game, it launched on a console, and the console crowd fell in love with it's usable interface, and it's sweetspot of difficulty, along with it's pseudo badass hero, so it's a supergame now, people who REVIEW games, i.e. name them game of the year, are fallible, and just as prone to being fanboys as anyone else, and it is idiotic to prop that up as support of an argument, it is a subjective, from sources that are oft times dubious, and funded BY THE GAME PUBLISHERS.

I, like most people, bought a xbox just for Halo, and a 360 for halo 3. Yes, they ARE different in terms of gameplay but both can be compared when talking about innovativeness in their respective sub-genre. Gears of War added the fun and extremely useful cover functions to make their shooter something different from the rest on the market. While I admit that at first Halo did bring something new to shooters (the vehicles & some of the weapons) there has been very little done since then to make it new and refreshing and Halo 3 is a bit of a disappointment. I think they realized that if people bought the first two, people will buy the third regardless of what they added or failed to add.

I personally like the games, and I think the 3rd installment is going to be the best of the 3 because of the sheer effort being put into this. If you read the article below, they've done numerous lab testings, and they won't stop until the game is literally going to be clinically proven to be awesome and fun.

Nope, I bought it for Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet, Tekken, Devil May Cry and many others, most of which are online (which is free on ps3 by the way). I like the 360 and I've played it a lot, but I just liked what the ps3 was offering. I still play Resistance single-player and online and I'm about to buy Warhawk. I don't regret my purchase at all.

I'm starting to get into the story alot. When I played Halo, and Halo 2 I used to shoot, and never pay attention to the story. I was basically a killing machine. So I checked out the Wiki of Halo, and played Halo, and Halo 2 again, then I started to pay alot of attention to the story. It really has one helluva story line. In my opinion, the gravity hammer already looks over-powered. Maybe should have been another support weapon. It is cool however, in the new Vidoc, they showed it hitting a warthog and the thing flew back. The laser, if unchanged during the beta, was a badass weapon.

16 hours to go. I have my legendary copy paid off, going to midnight release around 7ish :) I've been trolling the Halo 3 forums at bungie for a while now and me and a few guys are planning to do co-op first thing, though it seems it might just be two us :P The last guy we got never accepted our friend requests, I've asked him if he's still doing it and he said yes, but he still hasn't accepted them, and the other guy declined my friend request but me might not of known I was in the group. I'd be up for a Explosm clan.. if halo 3 had clans :) There is no built in clan support in Halo 3, though there is a rumor that a future dashboard update will add clan support to the 360.

You know whats really weird? I'm on my 4th gamertag, on every one I've gotten to 20's in slayer and team snipers, sometimes team skirmish as well, I can never seem to get passed it for very long. On my newest one, Kekaygenkai, I was at 22 in slayer for a while there, down to 21 now (despite doing well my self but losing anyway), whats weird is, before, when I got higher than 21, I'd start losing and get back down to 20, then I'd start owning again and get back up, rinse and repeat, but the last few days I've been owning... I don't know if I've just finally gotten over my random playing style or the only people still playing in my level range just suck :)

Oh, and yeah, at least 13k people already have the game, sucks. Most of them got it non-legit, as in, they found a store selling early and they took advantage of it, those people disappoint me, the others either stole it, even worse, and a few lucky people won it in the First To Own Pontiac contest. What really makes me mad is that the contest winners got theres like 2 days ago, and they started posting on the forum as if the game was already out, completely disregarding that most of us don't have it yet. bastards. Anyway, I'll have mine soon :)

I went down to a game shop complex today in hopes of reserving a copy. Lo and behold! A shop had an entire crate of special edition copies! Nothing is officially released in Kuwait so independent shop owners usually have to divert a shipment of something if they want it on their shelves, like when the PS3 was released and people were camping in the street for one in the US. Every shop in the complex had at least 5.
Back on topic. Halo is brilliant, I was expecting single co-op to suck but it's actually on par with GoW. I haven't got fast enough DSL for multi play but I'm bringing my console to a friends place to see what it's like.

I am so PISSED OFF! I got Limited Edition but the case was fucked. So while I was walking home, BOTH of my games popped out of the securing section and into the case. So I walked the 40 minutes home only to find that my discs are both thoroughly fucked. And then I find out that my EB games is closed due to 'Unexpected Lan Party.' Well fuck me sideways with a broom. So I can't play until tomorrow. Fuck.

Got it a couple of hours ago pretty fun though I keep fucking up when I try to reload I press Y instead of the right bumper. :argh: Making me waste my cloaks and shield things. But pretty fun nonetheless though not as great as the first one in my opinion.

Yeah, I bought my copy today and dropped off a friend to see if UPS delivered his copy yet. But waited from 2pm-5 for him to get his for online co-op, and just finished a 3 hour session, have probably clocked in about 5 hours today.

Bloody beautiful game. In terms of style (level design, etc) it isn't much different from the first two Halos (although I kinda consider that good ), but the gameplay has evolved to a whole new level. The campaign as a whole is absolutely epic so far, but the plot is really love it or hate it. I, for one, love it.

It's funny though, Bioshock wasn't hyped too much until it came near the release. But Halo 3 has been hyped since Halo 2 ended and I am sure a lot of people will think it sucks, But I love the series. It's the first FPS I've played that I didn't stop playing after the 4th 'Replay?' button hit.

There is definitely going to be a Clan patch/update thingy to enable it... I think they are still testing out how many players are playing for server purposes...


Also, I just beat the game on Normal. I loved it. I got a lot of it because I've read the books. If you read the books or played Marathon or Halo CE, then you should spot some cool things in the game.

Well i played it for a couple of hours, and i really couldn't get into it. I enjoyed the first two, though i don't think they were as great as everyone hailed them to be, the third was fun to me, but i didn't like it as much as when i first play Half Life or anything like that.

All in all i would probably rate the game (as much as i played anyways) a 2.5 or 3 out of 5, it's fun and all, but not at all what it's cracked up to be.

I beat the game last night, and I must say it is pretty awesome. Theres so much to it this time around (not that there wasnt the other 2). All in all I'd say it's an amazing game, and I can finally start hitting it up on multi-player.

I gave multi-player a shot too yesterday and its definately a lot of fun. Theres also a lot of new people, so out of the 4 or 5 games I've played on line so far each one I've came in first.

I'm SO pissed off. I found 3 guys on Live to do Co-op with. We played Legendary to the last level, then one guy quite when we were about 100m from the final jump, so we had to redo the level. We decided to try again tomorrow.

I have to admit, I was mostly impressed. I'm never really a big fan of Halo, but I loved this game start to finish, and I can see myself in the multi-player for months to come still.

I've beat it on Legendary, and have almost all the skulls except the "You could be my daddy" one. It's fun searching for them.

Oh man, this story line sure is great. It has an enticing beginning, a rich fulfilling middle, and an aesthetically pleasing ending!
Basically it ends Chief and Arbiter in a "Thelma & Louise" style fin'. The middle is just blap blap, pow pow, kaboom. Add some drama and it becomes an enjoyable experience.

You can play the last level for the ending, yes. That is what my friends and I did because we did the first level on heroic so we went back, beat that on legendary, then went to the last level again (you can even start at the final part (with the driving) and get the ending.

I played it for the first time online today at my friend's house. I tried to play with HappinessMan but he plays gay-ass Forge games, if I wanted to spawn my own weapons on a whim I'd just find someone who can hack the source code. Otherwise, it was pretty fun. It's good to see that not everybody has become Halo 3 gods yet.. I figure, give it a few weeks and you'll start to run into people who have mastered the game.

Also, Shotty Snipers on The Pit is all anybody fucking plays, I swear.

I suck at sniping. So I have to rely on my Shotgun, but I never get close enough because it's 4 on 4. and 4 Sniper Rifles can cover the whole map pretty much.

Sure I get a few lucky shots with the Sniper Rifle. But eventually, I do my team a favor and just camp so the opposing team can't get so many easy kills on me.

VIP is poorly executed. It should give the VIP some kind of light overshield or cloaking, otherwise it's way to easy to kill him aside from anyone else.

Some helmets look awesome. Like the Bungie Staff or Special Users only Armor. I love that armor.

I find the best gametype to just be.. Team Slayer, plain and simple. I don't like all that nonsense about speed and gravity and such. I prefer to just play the game as it comes and get my kicks the old fashioned way.

Actually the best gametype is 300% speed, 50% gravity, Starting Weapons are the Gravity Hammer and Swords, while Rocket Launchers are the weapons on the maps, on the map of the remake of Lockout(That really small one that has all the leaves, I forgot what it was called)

Plus we had a full game of 16 player freeforall. That is definately the craziest type.

It really sucks that sometimes you get in games where the enemy team really kicks your butt. But 10% of the time you get in a game where you do really good. But during the last 3 Minutes they all team up on you or something.

A lot of people on there actually are very unexperienced. Some haven't even played the first two games.

It kind of makes me mad when someone on your team doesn't know how to play a gametype. But I know that once I played the first time, I was like "What the hell is this?"

They said they were still testing some Networking and stuff like that. Once things finally get settled in more Maps and Game Variants will be added.

As well as higher player limits for some playlists.

I really love the Bungie.net Career stats. It shows you all your Medals you've earned and your kill/death counts. It's very awesome. I've got about 130+ Beat Downs and 160+ AR Kills.

Just reached Grade 2 Sergeant. I'll have to stop playing Halo 3 for the next few days to take time to work on my Math. But once Friday is over with, It's Halo again.

Congrats, Assassin. I finished it on Normal 2 days after it came out. My game arrived on the day it came out, but I wasn't even at home.

21 EXP. I can't wait till my next level up. (Then the level ups will be harder and harder to get.)

I only play for like an hour every day, then messing around if Forge or something.

I noticed that in Snowbound you couldn't have many human Scenery or Vehicles. Made me mad, I was thinking about doing a series on that map. But since I can't put in Human Drop pods...

I finished it on Normal in 2 days aswell. I don't know my current rank in MP but it are 3 ^'s. I have 22 EXP

I've beaten the game on normal and now am going back on legendary collecting all the skulls and finding all the terminals. So far I'm about halfway through "The Ark".

Haha pretty awesome video. I always hit the barrel off of that thing just for the fun of it, but I've yet to kill anyone. One day maybe..

Valhalla is probably my least favorite Halo 3 map though :ahe:

I would like it more if it either had more vehicles, or wasn't overplayed.
