I'm currently running Vista and after the latest batch of updates, my CD-ROM drive has stopped working entirely after Windows starts up. I mean, it won't read, it won't open.
However, it will read and open on start up, so the drive itself is fine. But once the loading screen for Windows pops up, it loses all functionality. The drivers are up to date, or so it says. Anyone having a similar problem or have a good idea what to do about this? I'm going to continue to search the internet for solutions. I've hit a dead-end of my knowledge on this. It's beyond my scope of knowledge why an operating system would refuse to acknowledge a device that has the proper drivers installed. But hey, that's Windows Vista.

Either look for new drivers on the internet or roll back the drivers via device manager.
