Discuss The Office here.
I mean the American one not the gay UK one!!! Just kidding you can talk about the UK one here too. Anyway, thoughts on this season? I think mostly every episode has been hilarious (so far). The only one I didn't like a lot was "The Mafia." But the beginning of this season is better than the beginning of last season. It is truly one of the best shows on TV at the moment. |

I agree, it's probably one of NBC's best shows. This season hasn't really been a let down which is surprising, though the last couple of episodes haven't really been the greatest. I prefer the Mafia episode to the latest one, where pam finds out Michael is dating Pam's mom. It just seemed kind of frustrating more than funny. Though the in between parts were pretty funny, like Creeds crying to the opera music and pretty much the whole mallard thing.

I'm actually really surprised that there wasn't a thread about this before.
Anyway, I've been recording it ever since I saw the episode right after the SuperBowl last year (2 years ago?). Because of this, I just get the re-runs on the CW so I'm not totally filled in on the story or what season I'm watching at any given moment.I've been watching the new episodes on Hulu and I think the new season is absolutely great. They definitely keep on coming with a consistent style of humor that I never tire of. I think it's certainly one of the best shows on TV right now. I love all of the characters except for Kevin. Kevin's not funny at all... And Angela is a bitch.

Kevin is great. I've started to really dislike Phyllis. She's not really funny at all. Like, not even in the way that Angela is.

I love this show, and this season's been real good so far. I'm pleasantly surprised this show has not declined in quality since the start. They still manage to pull off the same awkward and cringe-inducing humor that the show's basis was while building a very strong cast which is way more than I can say for most shows that are six years in. This and Curb Your Enthusiasm are my two favorite shows at the time being.
Another great thing is how with this show, the characters never lost their way and became completely different or parodies of themselves, another thing most shows do. Instead, the characters have developed and grown since the start while still being their recognizable selves. Goddamn this show's awesome. I'd put it with The Simpsons and Curb as my favorite shows ever, for that matter. And if there's a weak link in the cast, I think it's Meredith. She's a'ight, but has too much of a one-joke schtick she never really strays from. But she's good for drunk jokes and getting hit by cars. |

This season is better than last so far, but I completely disagree with Happy, the characters HAVE become parodies of their first season selves. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but Kevin is straight up retarded, Dwight is some mythical sex machine farmer with no concept of right and wrong, creed is about the same, Stanley, angela, kelly, and phylis are pretty much nonexistent, Ryan is just a slimy scumbag now, and the Narddog is also pretty much mentally retarded. Steve carrel is probably about the same, and Pam and Jim aren't funny anymore, they are the straightmen.

Ryan was supposed to change from straight-man temp to sleazy douchebag, that was their intent. And I like his hat, so that makes it okay. I don't think there was enough of Kevin in the beginning to tell he WASN'T straight up retarded but I could see what you mean.
I'd go with Dwight's transformation as being a pretty smooth, natural transition to obedient office nerd to his growing as an actual friend to Michael, rather than being overly loyal out of obligation. Then in the first season he was asking Toby where the clitoris was and what a vagina looked like, now he's banging random hot girls at weddings. But that seemed to flow to me. It's not like an exaggerated version of his early self, it's like an evolved (or arguably devolved) version of himself. In other words, it's not like "OOOOHHH HERE'S DWIGHT! WHAT KINDA CRAZY THING WILL HE REVEAL ABOUT HIS FAMILY NEXT???" In fact, Meredith and Phyllis maybe closer to that, relying on past characterization to base their jokes off of. But they're all still great in my book. I think with Andy, they just realized how awesome and popular Ed Helms really was as they kept going with his character, then at some point just told him to go to town. Thus, a more retarded Andy. I agree with Pam not really being as funny post-Beach Games when she became all assertive. That was part of why she was funny, holding her tongue and getting stepped on. Also her and Michael have been one of my favorite pairings because she always humored him but held compassion and understanding toward him-it was funny, but unfortunately with the latest episode we may have potentially lost that. |

What!? Jim and Pam are consistently hilarious. Jim adjusting to the new position is so much fun to watch, while mostly everything involving Pam makes me laugh. There hasn't been an episode that has disappointed me yet. Meredith and Phyllis have always been so-so characters to me, but I'm sure that there are people who actually work in an office that are just like that. There's always the Mother Goose, as well as the drunky single mother with brat kids. They might not have the funniest lines but people with office jobs can certainly relate.

Phyllis grew from a Mother Goose character to a total bitch, like when she pretty much stole Pam's wedding, telling the entire office about Angela cheating, and then complaining to Charles that Jim and Dwight spend hours in the conference room planning parties, after she lost the position. I dunno, ever since she started dating Bob Vance (Vance Refrigeration) she's been a pretty big bitch.

I've tried to watch some of the UK ones on Adult Swim but Friday nights at midnight is kind of a shitty time slot. Did it ever make it to 4 full seasons?

This is the only show that I faithfully watch and have been doing so since season 3. I have agree with most people here. This season has been a lot better than the last one.
Although lately I've been watching Season 5 on Netflix and there was some funny shit that I barely remembered. Like the whole fire drill that Dwight starts that has everyone freaking out. |

Easily my favorite show. Steve Carrel does a good job and his interview's in front of the camera are usually hilarious. Jim's a solid character, though I like him more when he messes with Dwight. This season is off to a really good start, my favorite since 3 and 4. And best moment last episode was when Jim didn't believe that Michael was dating Pam's mom till he asked what car she drove and Michael answered correctly. I was expecting Jim to just sigh sadly or something not be bleeped out. (spoilered in case someone hasn't watched it yet)

The Wedding was also a great episode. There has only been one episode I wasn't completely thrilled with, and that was the Pam's Mom one.
And you say "Not the gay UK one". Although it isn't nearly as funny as the American one, it is still a great show. Hugely better than many of the shows I've seen on American television. I only find it hard to watch a the same show with slightly different jokes, and unfamiliar characters. |

From what I've seen, I don't really like it.
Then again, I don't watch much television. Still, it reminds me of Seinfeld, and that makes it unbearable to watch. |

This is pretty much the only show I've ever gotten all the seasons and episodes and watched them twice. I recite quotes from it all the time.
I have to agree with everybody and say this season has definitely started the best. The best episode would be the first one, and the worst one would be Koi Pond (the beginning part was hilarious though, with Ryan being Edward Cullen.) Creed has become my favorite character now. And yeah, Pam and Jim has severely gone down in humor. Michael's gotten funnier, and all other characters have been the same. Except we need more Toby and Kelly, they've disappeared. And that picture of Pam on the magazine cover. She looks like a fucking cartoon she's been airbrushed so much. |

I didn't get the english office because they use things relevant to their culture. Like when the blonde guy was yelling "ogi, ogi, ogi, oi oi oi!" I had to google it to find out it was a Welsh war cry. And I'm assuming it's supposed to be hilarious because the english office may or may not be in ENGLAND, which hates the Welsh. |
