Looks like a solid kids platformer, but not really like what I thought it'd be like.

Yeah, Neither am I, it doesn't look like I hoped it would, and the graphics look very old. The actual art of the game looks really nice but the game itself looks very 'meh', I think if they went more cell shaded or a specific form of unique art/graphical blend like Wind Waker (which rocked) did back in the Gamecube days would have been way better and stylistic.

I'm guessing they stayed away from a stylish art style so it looked more like a Disney cartoon. Most of the inspiration of the game also comes from old cartoons so that could also be why the graphics look kinda old.

It's also on the Wii though. The Wii isn't really known for it's amzing graphics.

I've heard that the screenshots we see are early renders of the game as well. The finished game might look a little more polished and stuff.

I'm fairly certain it'll improve. Also, I'm fairly pissed off at that fancy producer guy calling the Phantom Blot lame. He clearly haven't read the same Mickey Mouse comics I read growing up. He was practically the only villain in Disney comics using a gun.

Yeah I definitely agree, also Choco I sure hope you're right. Talking about hardware I think you are a bit wrong there, I personally don't own a wii and will not get a Nintendo item this generation but I have seen some seriously beautiful games on the Wii, they need to go for an art direction like the actual art. They need to hit the mysterious, gloomy and beautiful at the same time, and for once forget the casual bullshit.

Remember Kingdom Hearts on the PS2? Something Disney but not childish and at the same time unique and will stay in your memory through next generation console

Lovely, eerie and gives it a feel for that Wizard Mickey cartoon they made ages ago.

This is a great idea for a game. Although form those magazine pics it does need to be polished up. I also liked the little tidbit on Oswald the Rabbit about how his rights were traded for the rights of sportscaster Al Michaels.

From the primary graphics shown on game informer, that robo duck won't be half as creepy though.

Okay now this all makes sense. When I heard "Epic" I thought like God of War or something, but clearly not.

The animation in this game looks better than the art.
His ears do that Mickey-Mouse-ear-thing, it's kind of funny that a programmer had to do think up how to do that.

Does it help that you have to collect all of his body parts so you'll find limbs scattered across the land? And that you can sell them to people?

In the article in specifically said that they wanted his ears to be viewed directly on from any angle like it is in the cartoons. Something about his ears being iconic and thus should always be viewed directly no matter what angle he's facing. Which is pretty cool actually.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/104/1040693p1.html

I know these are just start up models but some of the shit looks like it was done on an N64.

Exactly my thoughts, I thought it was going to be some sick weird artstyle concept.

I read a little about this in Game Informer last month. Looked overall pretty good. Unfortunately, however, it is on the Wii, so I definitely do not see myself getting it.

I've liked the principle behind this since it was announced; I always thought Mickey was cool in the earliest cartoons, then they made him this squeaky dweeb with no personality.

The game so far really does look just sort of generic and blah, though. They would need a lot of polish between the screenshots we're seeing and their release date. Look how gorgeous Mario Galaxy was.
