Comes out November 6th.

The Fourth Kind is bsed on supposed true events that took place in Nome, Alaska. The real story is that as many as 24 people suddenly disappeared from the town between the 1960's and 2004. Many believed that a serial killer was responsible. The FBI was actually assigned to the case and they determined that people were just drinking too much, getting lost, and freezing to death. The Fourth Kind presents the idea that alien abduction is responsible for the disappearances.

I'm actually pretty excited about this movie. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi but this actually looks like it will have some decent scares and decent plot twists. I'm also interested to see how Milla Jovovich will do in this. She's usually just cast as a generic action star.

Looks very disturbing, definetly going to see it and fairly sure I'll regret it afterwards. Gonna be paranoid of a "white owl" looking at me through my windows.

It just looks like it's put together so well. I'm really looking forward to all the little clues and stuff that will hint at alien abduction. And the archive performances look amazing.

I'm really hoping they show archival footage little by little as new clues are discovered. I watched a movie once where a guy listened to old tapes from old recorded therapy sessions every day in the movie while weird shit kept happening. At the end of the movie he finishes the tapes and you see it all ties in with the what was going on in his life.

Session 9

One of the greatest psychological horror films in my mind.

I think if The Fourth Kind sticked to using the archival footage the way they did in here it would be great. The movie would lose a lot of steam if right away guys were screaming that aliens were trying to take them.

Yes, that was it.
Yeah, movies have been lacking a sense of mystery, so this movie damn well better create that feeling.

This looks interesting, and if it's anything like Session 9 it'll be great.

I like the idea that they use actual case studies and videos. I think it'll be sick.

I don't actually think the case studies/videos are real. As far as I've been able to discover, this is just another huge stretch of fact for entertainment purposes. But judging from the trailer the actors and crew are doing a hell of a job with the session videos.

I found it a bit strange that Chocoholic's avatar is David Bowie from Labyrinth. I'm pretty sure turns he into a big owl and fly's threw the main chicks window. With this movie having the owl threw the window and all. Coincidence? I think not.

Yeah, it's getting mixed reviews. Almost all can agree that it has serious suspense and is actually pretty scary. Most bad reviews seem to be coming from the fact that it says it's based on a true story but is obviously fake. If that's the only thing worth bitching about I think I'll still try to go see it.

A friend saw it and said it's genuinely terrifying and one of the few films that has actually scared him.

He also said that the things from the videotapes parallel what's going on during present time. They might actually do it like Session 9 which excites me.

Obviously its not real, but saying it is makes a good image for the movie. Will see when possible.

Anyway, most of the reviews I read said this movie was a piece of shit. I kinda still want to see it though considering I love sci-fi/horror. Does anyone know when this gets released in Australia? IMBD doesn't have a date for Aus and nobody I speak to seems to know.

I'm rather disappointed that this movie apparently stinks. The trailers made a tired and hokey old concept (alien abductions are so 90's!) seem incredibly disturbing.

Judging by the trailer the movie is just another mediocre horror flick. Am I the only one that hates the kind of trailers were they throw in random screams and flashing images to make it look creepy?

Jesus, I just got back from seeing this. It is definitely the scariest movie I've ever seen. I recommended not seeing it unless you don't want to sleep for days. But I might just be a pussy.

That's the trailer to pretty much every single horror film ever made.

So now that this has come out, what does everyone think? I've really been hoping to see it, although I think Where the Wild Things Are is a bit higher on my list of priorities.

I saw this movie last night, and I'd have to say that it was actually really good. I jumped/screamed several times and I liked the way they used the "actual" (maybe it's not real, but hell, it sure looked the part) case footage and interviews.

Way better than Paranormal, at any rate, without the added nausea from the movement of the camera. Well worth the money.

Trailers for "horror" genre films these days do that because it'll bring in tons of stupid teenagers. Drag Me to Hell had a trailer like this despite it being more of a campy comedy and plenty of stupid teenagers were pissed because they didn't think it was scary.
