Left 4 Dead 2

As I'm sure many of you are all aware, the demo for the upcoming video game, Left 4 Dead 2 was released recently for those who have preordered the game.

This thread is for anything about Left 4 Dead 2. News, facts, feelings, questions.

In case you haven't heard, in the codes for the demo, we (the gamers) have been able to uncover the names of two upcoming map packs for the game. Unless I'm mistaking, and this is from memory (correct me if I'm wrong please) the map pack names are Mythic and Apocalyptic. Little is known about them. Although nothing has been released on the subject, if you hve any new information that would be greatly appreciated.

And the demo is awesome. I like how they made it during the daytime, to give a sorta Dawn of the Dead type of look.

Yeah you get a baseball bat and you would have had early access to the demo.
I think the date is the 18th.

Oh, the demo comes out for everyone tomorrow? I had heard that it was Wednesday. Whatever, that just means a can play with my friends sooner.

I've also heard that there will be different special common infected (like the Riot Police in The Parish) for every level. I think that I know not of the special common infected, but don't have a level name go with it.

Mudmen - When attacked, vision is blurred, much like a boomer.
Riot Police (The Parish) - Cannot be attacked head on.
Clowns (probably The Carnival) - Make small mobs, again, like a boomer.
Hazmat - Wear hazardous material suits, allowing them to walk through fire.

They are called uncommon common infected. I think there are a few others as well. Also: It's released November 3rd USA time, so it may be later, I was going by Aus time.

Australians don't get the Riot infected in the censored version. That's why I'll be buying from Kass.

But anyways, there's also the Worker uncommon common in Hard Rain that can't hear pipebombs because of their earmuffs.

So the demo dropped for everyone today. I enjoyed finally playing with my friends that haven't preordered yet. I am hugely pumped about this game.

Yes. I preordered for the 360 as well, and I got the demo early as well as a baseball bat web the game comes out officially.

The demo is laggy as hell on Xbox. Creamscreamer and I played through it a couple of times but the lag took away from it. I think the servers are overloaded right now.

I get more lag than I did in L4D1 aswell. It's not bad, but it's kind of frustrating.

Also is it me, or do Jockeys spawn like crazy?

EDIT: I used the AppID trick to play uncensored.

Jockeys do spawn pretty often. One spawned in the safe house and murdered us all when we were playing once..

But I have to say I laughed pretty hard when I saw "Jockey is riding Creamscreamer!" on the screen.

Just finished my first playthrough of the demo on 360. Hot damn, that was really fun. I loved the finale moment on the second stage. It was so frantic and crazy.

I was playing the demo on Expert today because i was in the mood for a solid challenge. Problem was, i kept getting lobbies with first-timers (some of which seemed to be new to L4D completely) who wanted to inspect every little corner and detail on the map. Which i can understand, but for fuck sake can you all NOT wander off when we're playing on expert?!

I finally found a team compitent enough to reach the first safe room... Unfortunately a Spitter spawned in there preventing us from getting in, then some fuckwit shot the alarmed car and it all went to hell.

Needless to say, i gave up. But anyways the demo is great and the game looks really fun. The new crescendo event system is pretty nice as well. I was hoping to see some Uncommon Common's though (whatever they're called).

But i really cant see why riot zombies were cut either. I dont wanna start a debate, but shouldn't the riot shield perk in Modern Warfare 2 be cut from the Aus version as well by that logic?

I was wondering about the riot cop censoring too. Is it really that bad to shoot police officers in video games, even if they're zombies? Is the GTA series banned in Australia? What about Modern Warfare 2, surely executing unarmed civilians is worse than shooting zombies in bulletproof vests.

Also, some of the horde music in this is fucking awesome. It's not even mock-scary at all, it's really more of an action game now, but that's great.

I'm not sure why the demo is so fucking laggy on the 360. L4D has never given me any trouble whatsoever. It's probably just a demo issue.

The more I play the demo the more I like it. The riot zombies mess me up more than the special infected, and melee feels like it was meant for the game.
The Jockey is also going to be pretty fun to use in Versus.
