So, this Christmas we've made a plan. We're not buying each other gifts, instead we are both putting ~$250 give or take, to put towards video games we both agree on.
We've been making a list of games to buy, and it desperately needs some suggestions, because right now we're falling short of games to actually spend the money on. I prefer games that I can get on PS3, but we have a 360 for those exclusives that are just worth it. Right now the list has: Borderlands Uncharted 1 + 2 Bioshock Rachet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time Dragon Age Origins Eternal Sonata Disgaea 3 Little Big Planet And... that's about it. I want suggestions for games that you believe are worth buying, especially those that are not mainstream. We've fallen so out of touch with the gaming community, we pretty much only know about the games that are kicking us in the teeth with advertising. Please no sports or fighting games. GOOD multi-player is loved! Older games are okay, but ones released within the last year or two are preferred. I will look up EVERY game mentioned and consider it seriously! Thank you! ![]()

Do you guys play online quite a bit? Online multiplayer is usually a huge factor when I decide on getting a game.

No, not so much online unless it is a mmorpg. The only game I've actually played online is Resident Evil 5, which was okay. We love co-op games where we can play with each other, next to each other! Those seem so rare lately though... Or really lame, like Fable II.

I'd suggest getting Left 4 Dead 2 for multiplayer. I used to play it all the time when friends came over. It's more fun online but it's still a blast split-screen. Nothing like shouting at each other for alerting the horde at the wrong moment.

I'd say Borderland for the awesome effect, as well as Bioshock. Otherwise just go with what Choco said.

Yeah. You have a pretty good list going as far what you're interests are. The only other thing I'd suggest is holding on to some money for some of the releases coming out early next year like Bioshock 2 or Heavy Rain.

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but i hear Assassins Creed 2 is supposed to be a lot better than the first one. They supposedly fixed the repeditiveness, so I'd suggest that.
For PS3 though, if you havent played Infamous i really recommend that, its about a year or 2 old, but it's a fun rpg nonetheless |

inFamous released in May. And I can recommend getting Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 if you don't already have that. It's a great strategy RPG! And I would recommend looking online for some good games as well. Flower is an absolute must play on the PSN, and PixelJunk Monsters and Critter Crunch are great games with great multiplayer. And if you don't have Batman: Arkham Asylum, I can recommend that. It's an amazing game! |

Oh, if they fix the repetitiveness I would LOVE Assassin's Creed 2. I would just boot up that game to run around and kill people... but I was bored with the actual progress. If I like Bioshock 1 I will definitely have to get Bioshock 2.
I definitely have to add Demon's Souls, that game looks amazing! And Left 4 Dead is great, I forgot about it! I had played it with a friend of mine but she would get "carsick" and only let me play like 2 levels. Oh and Batman, I had heard that was great, forgot about that too. I think we shall be picking that up... Thanks for the suggestions thus far! I want any suggestions, and as I said, just mention anything you like because I need to expand my gaming horizon once again. RPGs, Strategy, shooters, action, adventure, hack and slash, heck, even throw in hand held games (we have DS and PSP), single player is fine, I know there are more on the 360 so throw plenty of those options out there as well. Don't be too selective, we literally want too many games and then pick and choose through them. |

Shooters for your Xbox, the controller is better for that. Fast paced action games, and sports games for your PS3 because of the D-pad. Big ass RPG's for your xbox (or pc preferred) because of framerate dips.
That's my advice system wise. As for games only get LBP if you have the patience to make shit. Demon's Souls is a great title if you're a dungeon rpg fan, like in the days of diablo 2. |

Final Fantasy Dissidia for the PSP is a must get, especially if you are a fan of the Final Fantasy series.

Oh yeah, speaking of Final Fantasy. If you're an oldschool gamer, download FFVII from PSonline, you can even move it to you pspGo.

Here are some must play titles and reasons why:
inFamous - there's nothing like this game, it's hella fun and absolutely worth playing at least once. I burned through this in 3 weeks so I only rented it, but that's because it was summer and I had plenty of time to get the most out of it. Tons of fun. I think the greatest hits edition is out now, so in that case it'll only cost you 30 dollars. Critter Crunch - it's less than 10 dollars, you can purchase it through the PSN. head-to-head offline multiplayer makes this an excellent game to enjoy with the bf/gf. It's a puzzle game with a sort of quirky storyline. If you've ever enjoyed Bejeweled 2 or Mean Bean Machine then this game is a must-own. Katamari Forever - If you've never played katamari before I would first recommend downloading the demo off of the PSN. If you do like it, instead of actually purchasing Katamari Forever for 50 dollars, try to find some old copies of Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari for PS2 (you'll need backward compatibility for this, or dust off ye' olde PS2). That'll only take maybe 20 dollars altogether from your 250 dollar pool rather then a whopping 50. Then wait a few months for Katamari Forever to drop in price. In all that's 4 games (inFamous, Critter Crunch, the 2 katamaris) for a total of less than 60 dollars. I'll post more as I think of them but one last bit of advice; check out the demos on PSN, if you see a title that seems interesting there's no harm in downloading it and trying it out. That's the best way to find games that aren't necessarily mainstream. ...and I could write essays on why you should grab the GOTY edition of COD4 as well as MW2. |

So... someone lock this, delete this, bury it in a pile of dog shit, because I just found out I've been cheated on.
What a wonderful Christmas this will be. |
