Eminem is fine, he was the shit when we were kids, and still is. God bless 'Parental Advisory' on those cd's and tapes. Good times.

The launch trailer is a compilation of everything we've seen.

I actually hadn't seen them asploding through space which they show at 1:03ish. This trailer actually made me less excited for this somewhat, mostly because it now seems like there's a chance that IW is going to try too hard with too many things. I mean space? I have faith that they won't screw up but there's always a chance.

The space thing is just a perspective of an astronaut who sees the nuke heading to the US and assploding.

I hope they don't try to mix bad-ass action game with deep story telling, it doesn't seem like it would work.

See I guess that really doesn't make a difference to me, because all I've known is everything in the second column. But I can certainly see how the PC goers are quite pissed.

My point is, who the fuck needs 64 players on any of the maps in COD4? 18 players in 9v9 Ground War on the 360 was MORE than enough. You wouldn't go more than fifteen seconds without encountering enemy action.

And now people are bitching and saying that 9v9 shouldn't even considered a multiplayer experience because there's so little amount of people? Are you fucking kidding me? Get off your high horses and enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

Change happens, I say deal with it.

Example:
MW2 has less perks than COD4 overall, but they are as a result ALL way more useful and as such it'll be harder choosing between them. Unlike COD4 who had a bunch of perks no one even used (Eavesdrop, Sonic Boom, and especially unlike COD WaW (Shades? Gas mask? Yeah. Right.)

And they took out of multiplayer the Dragunov and M1911 and M14, for example, despite those weapons being in MW2 singleplayer. That I don't understand. But it's not my place to judge.

Major online retailer Direct2Drive have announced today that the year's biggest game - Modern Warfare 2 - won't be made available on their PC digital delivery service. Why? Because of rival platform Steam, of course!

Activision's shooter includes mandatory installation of Valve's Steamworks, which the game uses for stuff like installation, DRM and save-game management. Something Direct2Drive (which is owned by website IGN) are having none of, telling us "We don't believe games should force the user to install a Trojan Horse". That "Trojan Horse" being the inclusion of Steam's commercial marketplace.

D2D also told Kotaku that, having evaluated some Steamworks titles earlier in the year (such as Empire: Total War and Dawn of War II) and finding the forced inclusion of Steam's storefront (offering automatic competition to D2D's own services) not to their liking, told publishers that they'd stop selling games bundled in such a manner until Valve "decoupled its retail marketplace" from Steam's other services.

To be clear, D2D's beef is not with Activision, it's with Steam, and to prove there's no bad blood between the retailer and mega-publisher, $5 coupons will soon be offered on select Activision titles to make up for it.

UPDATE - Seems Impulse have come out today and also confirmed they won't be stocking the game, for the same reasons.

UPDATE 2 - Digital store Gamersgate have told Kotaku that, like D2D and Impulse, they will also not be stocking Modern Warfare 2, and again, for the same reason.

Send an email to the author of this post at plunkett@kotaku.com.

Who is 'it'? What the fuck is 'the sale'?

When you ask a question, at least make it like 2% comprehensible.

Usually the money comes out when the game has been shipped. There's probably some computer error on their end in regards to the money being removed and replaced, but you should find that the money will be removed when it's shipped :)

Ah, Bollocks I couldn't be arsed to pre-order and now the sale's going to start at 00:00 from 9november to 10november and I don't want to go there, because it's pretty nerdy to go at night to some store for a game, but I want it pretty bad.

If your game store is at a mall you should go. I went with some friends when they got Halo: ODST and the mall just opened up their arcade area and had everything on free play. So I just destroyed guys in Tekken Tag all night.

In my opinion, 9v9 is too small. The thing I liked most about PC was you could play with more than 18 people if you wanted, plus you could play to whatever score the server had set, not just 750. And yes 64 people is a bit much, but 30 is near perfect.

This is my favorite part:
"On Oct. 30, the client told IPCybercrime that an individual going by the name “cedelamo” and “cdelamo815″ had posted a message on the piracy forum at xbox360iso.com. The post asked for users to donate funds to him via PayPal so that he could buy one of the above-listed Craigslist bundles and crack the anti-piracy code. Once he did that, he could distribute counterfeit copies of the game widely and make a bundle of money doing it.

There wasn’t an obvious way to track the person who made the post. But IPCybercrime checked on Facebook to see if the email address belonged to someone with a Facebook account. The search turned up a page for someone who was anonymously offering “modding services.” Modders are people who hack into Xbox 360 systems and turn them into repositories for pirated games. They stand in a gray area of the law, as it’s legal to make your own backup copy of a copyrighted disk, but it’s not OK to sell that copy commercially. To evade the law, the modders often describe their services in ads as selling “backup disks.”"

The price for MW2 in Denmark is actually lower than most other anticipated games, and yes, this time I actually checked it. 500kr opposed to 550kr.

The mod stuff on the list.. Did CoD4 even have a decent mod community? And what would you even use console commands for?

I was at The Exchange in Pittsburgh this morning and came across the BradyGames strategy guide for MW2.

There was a hardened edition which had a hardback and blown-up tactical maps of all the MP maps, kinda cool lookin'.

I have to say, as much I think we should try it before bitching about the PC stuff, it sounds like it's really going to fuck over people with bandwidth limits. At the moment it's unmetered because I can use my ISP's servers, but that won't be an option, plus the added strain of hosting 18 people is going to burn through my up/download limit like crazy.

So get it for consoles. You have to know that the console was the primary concern here, an enormous portion of the purchased copies will be for consoles. PC gaming is on its way out unfortunately. Its not nearly as lucrative as just making a game for consoles, especially with pirating and such. This whole promise to not buy the game and just pirate it is pointless as it simply will lead to less time being put into PC games. Valve and Blizzard are the only real PC producers left, and valve is starting to venture into the console realm even if they are still predominately PC based. Pirating the game only leads to less console support in the future, the message these people are trying to send will get across. Perhaps they will make a little less money on MW2, granted it will be no major impact to the sales of the biggest game of the last 3 or 4 years.

The message will get across yes, however the impact will not be increased support for PC players but less.

Personally i'm excited about it and have always preferred FPS's on consoles and RTS on PC. I will be picking up the game the day it comes out, along with many of the people that pledged the boycott, and even more will cave after a month or so and at the very least when it wins its first award. This isn't the civil rights movement, its a video game. Yeah the decreased support for PC gamers sucks, but games are moving away from PC and its time for the user base to accompany it.

The next Call of Duty will be based in Vietnam (or so I've heard). It will suck though, because a game based in Vietnam should be mostly story based and not "ACTION PAXED TO THE MAX!!" Like that other gay company will make it.
