He powered up his opponents - who cares really? This is a comic competition - the criteria are art, creativity and humour, not how badly you kicked your opponent's ass.
Take a look at Relaps vs Goblinboy for example. Toward the end there was no beating each other, they were competing simply with how good their comics were. Quote:

So far i have Pyro in the lead by a lot, his jokes were funny, and his art was much better than Dark's. Also Dark that Plugin joke was kind of lame in my opinion.

Pyro's were somewhat funny, while Dark's were filled with AOLisms, misspellings, and shoddy art. They also lacked humor.
