Sorry bro, but I'm honest about this sort of thing. You come across as a bitchy borderline emo in the middle of a midlife crisis, who wants to come across as the new Micheal Moore but ends up presenting himself as an armchair socialist who follows his views not through actual ideological belief but simple bitterness and jelousy that some poeple are richer than you. Your writing and presentation style is actually quite good, making the points and evidence clear and consinct, but you deliver it with such a degree of bitchy whinyness that I ended up giving less of a fuck about the topic than I did to start. Try blogging about things that, you know matter. This could be one of those things, but to present it in this way, avoid terms such as 'I am under paid and under valued' and try more to contrast the excesses of the executives with the hardship of ALL lower paid workers, not just bitching about how YOU'RE worse off. For example,

Dude...okay, CEOs and executives are allowed to ask for a lot of money and perks because they work their asses off. I don't know what you do or what your position/status is within your company, but stop bitching and work harder. You whining about your shitty paycheck is not interesting, and your crappy attitude is infuriating, not inspiring or enlightening.
The Chinese economy is doing so well because they don't accept incompetence or failure. What's so bad about that? America sucks because we give incompetent failures money and ask for nothing in return while people who really need help have no health insurance and no money to go back to school. You need an attitude adjustment...get over yourself. |

Alright. I the feedback from both of you. Quadros..my blog is a way for me to vent my frustration at time with situations I encounter at work. I have found that others experience the same frustrations and can relate. Based on your comment...you cannot. That's ok. I'm not a writer and tend to use me as the subject, however I believe in people in general and see many people I work with that get very little for doing a great job at work. I am not only frustrated for me, but for other hard workers. My other posts mention my general disdain for how other workers, not only me, are treated.
As far as Wookie's comments. Most CEOs are rightfully paid, but my post, if you read it thoroughly was about high paid CEOs that also get additional perks that are unfair to the other workers of the company. If you know anything about business you will see that these same high paid CEOs haven't don't much good for their employees or their companies. Take a look at ENRON, ADELPHIA CABLE and TYCO. I guess you believe that those CEOs are rightfully paid high salaries. In each situation the CEO screwed the workers by either looting their retirement funds (ENRON), Using company funds on lavish expenses, parties, causing the company to go Bankrupt (Adelphia Cable), or using company funds for things like his wife's $200k birthday party (TYCO). Also to Wookier, concerning the Chinese economy. My post on that was agreeing that the Chinese don't accept incompetence, which is why our country is so screwed up because we do. I agree with your points so I don't know why I need an attitude adjustment. Maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension?? I'm paid fairly well, but now well enough for consistently exceeding performanc expectations. My question to both of you is...what do you do for a living? I'm a Director at a company with 80 employees that count on me. I try to make their lives better, but constantly get crap from those above me for it. So you'll have to excuse me if I'm "whiny" because it's really hard having to look a good employee in the face and say "thanks for your performance, here is a 10 cent raise." Try doing that sometime and see if you don't get whiny or upset. |
