Don't remember a thread being made on this topic, and I think it would be fun to discuss. What is the most meaningful sentence/lyric/quote you have heard? You can choose to explain what you interpret the meaning as, or you could just leave it open for interpretation. It can be about anything, but extra points for 'meaning of existence' type quotes, remember to reference so people can delve deeper if they wish.
First one I can think of is: Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to life an eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here - Tool, Right in Two, 10,000 Days. |

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
-Jules, quoting Ezekiel 25:17, from Pulp Fiction.

Personally, although I am in no way religious, I really like the 23rd Psalm:
"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever." I find it reassuring and comforting and I don't even believe in God.

"anyone who clings to the historically untrue and throughly immoral doctrine that violence never solves anything i would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon and the duke of wellington and let them fight it out. The ghost of Hitler can referee. Violence and naked force have solved more issues in history than any other factor. The contrary is wishful thinking at it's best."

I had a collection of lyrics and quotes that I liked. Here's a selection of the more meaningful ones:
"A second chance means nothing, if nothing's learned from past mistakes." - The Movielife, Jamestown "Live right now, yeah just be yourself. it doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else." - Jimmy Eat World, The Middle "I won't waste my time fitting in, 'cos I don't think contrast is a sin." - Millencolin, Penguins and Polar Bears "See, the sad thing about a guy like you is, in 50 years you're gonna start doin' some thinkin' on your own and you're going to come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life: one, don't do that, and two, you dropped 150 grand on a fuckin' education you could have got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library." "Yeah, but I will have a degree and you'll be servin' my kids fries at a drive-thru on our way to a skiing trip." "That may be, but at least I won't be unoriginal." - Matt Damon (who'd have thought it?!), Good Will Hunting

Not all love stories are chick flicks. Closer's actually pretty quotable, and pretty damn good.
"Anna: Why is the sex so important? Larry: Because I'm a fucking caveman!" Sum 41: "If nothing could ever be this real (be this real) A life unsatisfied that I could never feel(I could never feel) (Some say)This futures not so bright Some can't make the sacrifice It's much more than just black and white And I won't fall" It's emo, dude. Give up.

The Princess Bride was technically a love story, but it had swordfighting, torture methods employed by albino midgits, and a dude with 6 fingers on 1 hand. And also wierd flesh eating eel things that screech a lot. That movie ROCKED. And the priest had a crazy lisp. I laughed.

That's a song about the way politics is going in North America, and the need for radical change. It's entirely un-emo. In an attempt to rescue man points from the dabcle of my last quote:
'Fuck off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.' -Tyler Durden, Fight Club.
